What is IV Sedation?  

IV sedation, also known as intravenous sedation or "twilight sedation," is a form of conscious sedation used to help patients relax and manage anxiety during dental procedures. In contrast to other forms of sedation like oral medication, the effects of IV are almost instant and can be better controlled for longer procedures.  

How Will IV Sedation Make Me Feel?

The amount and potency of your IV sedation will largely depend on the procedure. However, the effects across the board are very similar. You will begin to feel the effects almost immediately after administration, starting with a dazed feeling that will leave you in a twilight state.  

If you will be undergoing an extensive surgical procedure, chances are that you will be asleep. However, milder procedures might only require you to be only slightly unconscious, enough to be able to answer verbal request from Dr. Fotek.
